So, what is the definition of “Danger” and why is it important to learn it? For most of my readers, they assume that a definition of “danger” means that it is something that can cause bad things to happen. But, that’s just not true! In fact, a definition of “danger” as something that can be controlled or avoided shows that those who know its true meaning understand that there are things that can’t be avoided!

The problem with this definition: is that it shows that we are looking at danger from a negative point of view. If we look at things in a positive fashion, i.e., as something that can be overcome, then we will see that there are things that can’t be avoided. The above example is true for many things in life. So, when you hear someone say that there is no such thing as no danger, don’t listen to them! Instead, pay closer attention and use their definition clear and present danger point of view to help you understand where exactly danger lies.

For those who already have knowledge: of this kind of “definition,” it may not be all that difficult to understand how it actually works. Think about this: If you are walking through the woods and you see two sticks sticking out of the ground, one of them is clearly visible. That object could be a stick or a stone, but it’s right there in front of you. But, because you are afraid that it might fall and get stuck in the middle of the forest, you hesitate to pick it up. This kind of fear is called “present danger.”

Now, when you return home after only a few minutes of walking: you find a three foot long ladder leaning against the tree. You have no idea whether or not it’s stuck, but you know that it is because you saw it in your earlier trip. So, now you run towards it, grab the ladder, and begin to climb down the ladder. Your present danger has occurred!

If, on the other hand, you return from a trip and notice: that the object you were seeking to grab has disappeared – you are now in the presence of a “previous danger.” This object (the ladder) is obviously dangerous because it has been there for quite some time. But you had no prior awareness of its presence! This is called “future danger.”

So, remember that when you see a stick or a rock: stick or stone – DO NOT STAY nearby! Do not become too attached to them and forget the definition of danger! The very foundation of your physical health and safety rests upon your ability to recognize and define present and future danger.

If you are able to master this skill, your physical and mental health will certainly benefit.
